Ollie's glasses.....

Ollie went to the eye doctor last Tuesday.
He is near sighted and he has an astigmatism.
He got his glasses today.
At first, he didn't want to wear them, however I did get him to wear them while he watched TV for an hour tonight.
When he was done, he took them off, put them in the case and brought the case to me.
I think Ollie is going to be just fine with his glasses.

Van was five when he got his first pair of glasses too, and he broke his first pair in a couple of weeks.

Guess What.........

WE ARE GETTING READY TO DO????????

Ouch, part two......

Do you remember here, where I had my toe nail removed because I had an ingrown nail on both sides of the nail?
Well, guess what, the nail is still growing funky.
So, before it got all infected again, the Doctor decided to cut part of the side of my nail out and pour acid on my nail bed........so it won't grow back.
This happened Friday!
Believe me, it hurt a lot less then having my nail removed!!!!!!!!

To all of our Coshocton friends........

We had a local celebrity visit us here last week.
Mark is running for City Council at Large in Coshocton, he is also one of Josh's oldest friends.

We took Mark to Frickers ( Flickers as the kids call it, it is their favorite place to eat). He only stayed the night, but I think the kids had fun entertaining him. :)

A wedding Saturday.....

I mentioned that we dropped the kids off with the Grandparents, well that is because we went to a wedding on Saturday. One of Josh's friends from college got married close to here in Miamisburg. We also had an out of town guest ( another one of Josh's college friends). We just attended his wedding as well.

Sitting at the tables were these cute little heart shaped cookie cutters and a cookie recipe. I thought that it would be cute to share......

Here's the recipe.....

1 cup of shortening (1 cup of hope)
1 cup of white sugar ( 1 cup of kindness)
3 eggs (3 hugs)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract ( 1 teaspoon of sunshine)
3 cups all purpose flour ( 3 cups of wisdom)
1 teaspoon baking soda ( 1 teaspoon patience)
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar ( 2 teaspoons of Glee)

directions

preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowel mix together the shorting and white sugar.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Combine the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar, then stir into the sugar mixture to form a dough.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Place cookies 1 1/2 inch apart onto cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a preheated oven.
Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes.

What did you have at your wedding tale for guests?????

Josh and I had Hershey's kisses.

our anniversary night........

Well, Josh had class Tuesday night and he didn't get home till 9:30. The kids were in bed. I started pork chops, potatoes supreme and carrots and green beans at 9:30 at night. I also baked a chocolate cake that I ended up burning a little on the bottom ( don't worry, Petey ate it ). Well, we ate at 10:30, but we did get some time alone with one another. :) We planned on going out Friday for our anniversary ( because we dropped the kids off with Grandparents) however when we got home , we were tired and we ate Arbys and watched the movie HE'S JUST NOT THAT IN TO YOU. That was a nice night too! Thank you for spending the last 10 years with me Josh, I love you!

have a glass of my tea.....

I am always getting compliments on my tea, so I thought I would share what I do.

I make 4 quarts at a time.
I use ONLY Benner tea bags.( I find them at Aldi, I don't know where else to find them.)

I put 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water with 5 tea bags into the microwave for 4 minutes.
Then I pour into the container and add half a cup on ice to it.
I then put 5 more tea bags and another cup of sugar and water in the microwave and do the same thing all over again.
I add the second mixture to the container fill to the top 4 quart container) with water and mix.
place in the refrigerator and cool.
enjoy :)

of what is to come!!!!

can you guess what room this wall paper is coming down from?

Oh, and yes I did take a picture of Ollie's Giraffe that he drew on the wall with purple crayon!!!

it is hard to see, I think the camera had a hard time focusing because of the checks, but I tried to help by labeling the areas. I hope you can see it because it is really cute.

who are you?

You are a Grace -- "I need to understand the world."

Graces have a need for knowledge and are introverted, curious, analytical, and insightful.

How to Get Along with Me
  • * Be independent, not clingy
  • * Speak in a straightforward and brief manner
  • * I need time alone to process my feelings and thoughts
  • * Remember that If I seem aloof, distant, or arrogant, it may be that I am feeling uncomfortable
  • * Make me feel welcome, but not too intensely, or I might doubt your sincerity
  • * If I become irritated when I have to repeat things, it may be because it was such an effort to get my thoughts out in the first place
  • * don't come on like a bulldozer
  • * Help me to avoid my pet peeves: big parties, other people's loud music, overdone emotions, and intrusions on my privacy

What I Like About Being a Grace * standing back and viewing life objectively * coming to a thorough understanding; perceiving causes and effects * my sense of integrity: doing what I think is right and not being influenced by social pressure * not being caught up in material possessions and status * being calm in a crisis

What's Hard About Being a Grace
  • * being slow to put my knowledge and insights out in the world
  • * feeling bad when I act defensive or like a know-it-all
  • * being pressured to be with people when I don't want to be
  • * watching others with better social skills, but less intelligence or technical skill, do better professionally

Graces as Children Often
  • * spend a lot of time alone reading, making collections, and so on
  • * have a few special friends rather than many
  • * are very bright and curious and do well in school
  • * have independent minds and often question their parents and teachers
  • * watch events from a detached point of view, gathering information
  • * assume a poker face in order not to look afraid
  • * are sensitive; avoid interpersonal conflict
  • * feel intruded upon and controlled and/or ignored and neglected

Graces as Parents
  • * are often kind, perceptive, and devoted
  • * are sometimes authoritarian and demanding
  • * may expect more intellectual achievement than is developmentally appropriate
  • * may be intolerant of their children expressing strong emotions

**** The first time I took this quiz, I was a Jackie, which I liked because I like Jackie. However, I only agreed with some of the answer so I took the quiz again and I think Grace fits a little bit better. ****

our garden....

I wanted to show you all the beautiful flowers that have bloomed in our garden. Now, I in no way shape or form have a green thumb, these perennials were planted by the previous owners.
